This coming Sunday marks a day that sports fans across the world look forward to each year: Superbowl Sunday. Whether you watch the Superbowl for the game or for the commercials, there is no doubt in my mind that this Superbowl will be remembered for years to come. This Sunday afternoon in Dallas,Texas, well over 100,000 screaming fans, joined by millions across the world will witness history in the making. The Pittsburgh Steelers, led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who faced much adversity throughout the course of this season, will be playing in their 3rd Superbowl in the last 6 seasons, and their 8th in franchise history. Roethlisberger, who already has two Superbowl victories under his belt, will have a chance to enter an elite group with a third victory on Sunday. Only four other quarterbacks in NFL history have three or more Superbowl Victories. Roethlisberger could be #5. The Pittsburgh Steelers, who have a phenomenal defense led by Defensive Player of the Year, Troy Polamalu, will be ready to shut down the high-powered passing offense of Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. There is no doubt in my mind that this Superbowl will be one that I will remember for years to come. Unfortunately, for those Packers fans out there, it is my belief that experience comes in handy in situations like these. The packers haven’t been to the Superbowl since the 1998, and only one player on their team currently played in that game: Defensive Back Charles Woodson. The Steelers are the more talented and experienced team and will come out victorious by a score of 27-17. Not if, but, when the Steelers come out as Superbowl 45 (XLV) champions, they will be crowned as one of the greatest dynasties that the world of sports has ever seen.

Another reason why I hope that the Steelers win the game are two reasons. the first of these reasons has to do with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. At the end of last summer, Roethlisberger was accused of sexual assualt in a Georgia nightclub. After an investigation, he was then suspended for the first 6 games of the regular season by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Goodell, then reduced Roethlisberger’s suspension to four games. In week five of the NFL regular season, Roethlisberger led the Steelers to victory in his first game back. For him to win his third Superbowl in the last 6 years would be the perfect ending to an emotional season and past few months. The other reason I hope the Steelers win has to do with their head coach Mike Tomlin. In 2009, Tomlin became the first African American, as well as the youngest coach to win a Superbowl. If the Steelers win Superbowl XLV, Tomlin will become the youngest coach in NFL history to win two Superbowls. Tomlin turns 39 on March 15th.
